Trita Parsi and NIAC must realize that the facts in the case are independent of who I am and what I believe. These facts are not about “neocons”, “war mongers”, “Israelis”, “Zionists”, “right wings”, MEK”, “monarchists”, and many other smoke screens in their PR campaign. These facts are directly based on Parsi’s writings, communications and actions. NIAC’s repeated failed efforts to put a gag order on the discovered facts do not change the nature of these documents either.

Parsi may be covering his own rear after Senator Kyl pressed AG Holder for an investigation into NIAC’s ties to the regime in Tehran — and I hear that Kyl isn’t the only member of Congress who is pressing that case with the Justice Department.

As we have noted in the communications between Parsi and the Iranian U.N. ambassador, the exchange of information is followed by action to influence U.S. policy toward Iran. This coordination of action is even more astonishing with Namazi. See how they coordinated a “game plan” to influence the U.S. Undersecretary of State. In 2005, they planned to meet Burns and brief him on U.S. policy toward Iran. Once again, the communications are baffling:

The student pointed out the falsity of Mr.Parsi’s assertion in stating that reform is the hope of the movement. Another colleague of Moussavi, former President of Iran, Khatami, came out and said that the regime was illegitimate and reform was no longer an option.

The goals and the agenda of NIAC is not of much concern to me as long as they are honestly articulated, even if those goals include lobbying for the Islamic regime or Iranian-American businesses who would like to see the sanctions against IRI lifted.

Now a lawsuit has brought to light numerous documents that raise questions about whether the organization is using that influence to lobby for policies favorable to Iran in violation of federal law. If so, a number of prominent Washington figures could come to regret their ties to the group.
