27 Terms of Censure from Education for 17 Students in Shiraz University
Jan 8th, 2009Amir Kabir Newslettr: On Wednesday, eight other students faced censure from studies and the transfer of their cases to the central disciplinary committee in the Ministry of Education to be reviewed for further charges.
Mohsen Zarinkamar, Akbar Hasanpour, Loghman Ghadiri, Afshin Hoshang and Alma Ranjbar each received two terms suspension from the school and their files were sent to the central disciplinary committee to be reviewed for further charges that included: Insulting the national and Islamic symbols and actions that are considered to be against the regime of the Islamic Republic”. Also, Amin Karimi and Armin Borazesh were suspended for one term and Amin Dorosti was cited with a violation recorded in his school file.
According to reports by Amir Kabir newsletter, Kazem Rezaei, Saeed Khalatbari, Abduljalil Rezaei, Arash Roostaei, Hadi Alamli, Hamdullah Namjo and two other students previously were collectively sentenced to 15 terms of suspension from studies in the school. All students had been called before the disciplinary committee for their role in the gatherings held on December 6th and 8th in Shiraz University.
Considering the educational standing for six of the students, the sentencing was in effect regarded as their expulsion from the university. Mr. Zarinkamar was not present in the gatherings, however, in a meeting in Shiraz University in which Mr. Ali Larijani was a participant, Mr. Zarinkamar spoke and criticized the regime authorities harshly, and he received two terms suspension for insulting senior authorities in the government.
All of those sentenced by the committee are forbidden to enter the university grounds during the period of their sentencing.
Of the 37 students who have appeared before the disciplinary committee, 17 have collectively received 27 terms suspension and their cases have also been sent to the central disciplinary committee for further charges. For the other 20 students, disciplinary actions have not yet been issued
