Once again, in late September, the Islamic Regime’s president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to attend the United Nations’ General Assembly in NY. This comes in an opportune time when the regime needs it most.

While Iran is currently experiencing an unprecedented diplomatic isolation, it was reported by the Iranian News Media that the former Iranian deputy foreign minister M. Aminzadeh has revealed that Ahmadinejad’s last visits to India and Turkey was personally manipulated by him. He was practically short of begging to be invited.

The political, economic and social conditions have created a very unstable and explosive situation amplified with factional feud and back biting inside the Regime.  The theocratic Regime’s response to these conditions has been to silence the oppositions with large scale repression, mass arrests and mass executions .A show of public display of mass hangings of 29 individuals in one day is only a glimpse of Tehran’s terror.

To camouflage the regime’s isolation, and in view of chaos and terror created by the Regime, Ahmadinejad will surely welcome a trip to New York., the symbol of  democracy in the world, in order to pale the Regime’s isolation, its internal weakness and its new record of brutality against its own people.

With an elaborate PR campaign, we should expect like before to see Ahmadinejad lecturing the civilized world on democracy, peace and human rights. He will try to part the sea by being Moses in Pharaoh’s land.!!

His grand scheme and his side show will be to gather a potpourri of Iranian lobbyists and their American Cronies. It will surely remind us of the fiascos launched by                 “The Council of Foreign Relations” reception for Ahmedinejad in 2006 and his speech in Colombia University on September 24, 2007.   Also not to mention the media frenzies to compete for interviews with Mr. President.

These unrealistic chaotic situations are the result of US and UN’s confused policies towards Iran which have given the Regime free hands to brutalize its people, jeopardize the regional stability and international peace.

Ahmadinejad’s arrival in New York coincides with Americans commemorating the victims of 09/11 terrorist attacks, the most dramatic symbol of what the fundamentalists could fulfill. With all the atrocities committed by Islamic regime in Iran, it is no surprise that this regime is the unique super power of fundamentalism in the world.

We  at the Progressive American Iranian Committee(PAIC), condemn all the crimes committed against the Iranian people by the Islamic regime, and  believe that the most incisive and cost effective option for the dismantlement of the Islamic regime in Iran is to cut off its economic life blood, in particular, revenues drawn from the oil,  and lend moral support  to real democratic forces inside Iran who are doing daily combat with the Islamic regime, but NOT providing this Regime of terror, a platform for propaganda!

The mass killings of political prisoners, stonings and hangings of the Iranian people, and also the 9/11 victims should be a wakeup call and a reminder to us all.
