Dear Mr. Flynn:
We at Progressive American Iranian Committee (PAIC) have learned, KPMG conducts business in Iran and even maintains an office in Tehran. I, along with many PAIC supporters, believe that to do business with the Islamic regime in Iran, one of the most repressive, corrupt regimes and sponsor of terrorism is wrong.
The New York Times on March 7, 2010 ran a front page story that detailed companies that do business in Iran. KPMG was one of the companies featured.
PAIC and its supporters believe that KPMG should cease its business dealings with Islamic regime and stand with the Iranian people in their struggle for freedom and democracy.
By conducting business in Iran, KPMG provides support to the regime which is not wanted by the majority of the Iranian people. This regime must be isolated politically and economically by all democratic minded people. For the Islamic regime, the decision to continue to repress the people and at the same time pursue nuclear weapons to intimidate other countries comes down to a simple cost-benefit analysis. If the regime be isolated, we will observe its changing behavior. By ceasing all business dealings connected to Iran, KPMG can send a clear message to Iran that it will not conduct business with a regime that is repressive the people and illegally developing nuclear weapons to intimidate other countries.
We at PAIC respectfully, urge KPMG to immediately cease all business dealings in Iran, and join the international community in condemning the Islamic regime’s behavior and stand with the Iranian people for the cause of justice, liberty and peace.
Sincerely
Siavash Abghari, Ph.D., President
Progressive American Iranian Committee
