A Comment on Hollywood and Mullahs
Mar 5th, 2009I just read the article about the trip by a few actresses, such as Annette Bening, Alfre Woodard, and the President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Sid Ganis; to Iran. Ms. Bening has commented that they hope to act as a bridge between the U.S. and Iran.
As an Iranian American who has witnessed countless atrocities by the Iranian regime, which continues even to now, it is sad that these ambassadors of America have chosen a country in which the lives of human being is useless, and even under aged kids are executed. What do we tell the Iranian regime, that we don’t care about whatever they do to their people, we still consider them as a legitimate government. A government which is staying in power only through brute force, and yes, through deceit. A government that had more than 30,000 political prisoners executed in a space of three months in the fall of 1988.
To American pundits, and analysts just the fact that they have presidential elections in Iran every four years is enough to give it legitimacy, no matter how they conduct these elections. We are telling them, go ahead and threaten the whole middle east, supporting the terrorist organizations such as Hezbollah, Hamas, and kill our soldiers in Iraq, but we are still determined to build a bridge by our actresses who do not care about the fate of Iranian women, even those who are executed while being pregnant. This is really pitiful.
