Nine men and one woman were hanged in Tehran’s Evin prison early this morning

According to the Iranian state media 10 people were hanged in the Evin prison of Tehran early this morning.
The woman, Fatemeh Pajouh, whom we reported about in the previous report, was convicted of murdering his husband who tried to rape her 15 years old daughter from a previous marriage.



Influencing US policy toward Iran, Conference at New York University

On 3 December 2008, a group of “Iran experts” and scholars will be participating in a one day conference to debate the US policy toward Iran. This meeting, far from a usual experts’ gathering, is part of a broader campaign which aims to influence Obama’s policy with regards to Iran.
This time though, there are no reformists or pragmatists in power in Tehran. Once again we hear the same campaign waffles coming from the Iranian lobbyist groups for the US to adopt a more amicable practice with Iran; this time though, simply because Bush was not peaceful enough.



Iran raises profile in Latin America

Iran is courting Latin America’s leftist bloc with active diplomacy, joint business projects and aid while gathering support for its much-criticized nuclear program. Nicaragua has received Iranian aid pledges for a dam and milk-processing plants, and is playing down U.S. concerns about Iran’s nuclear-weapon ambitions. Iran has also promised Bolivia US$1 billion in aid and investment, including plans to build a cement plant, dairies and two public health clinics.



What to do with the Iranian Clerical Regime?

Shahnaz Gholami was arrested

Shahnaz Gholami ,Journalist and Azerbaijani’s activist ,was arrested on November 9,2008 in her house by intelligence agents.
A prominent activist for the rights of the Iranian Azerbaijani minority, Abbas Lisani was sentenced to 18 months’ imprisonment and 50 lashes after he was convicted of taking part in a May 2006 demonstration by Iranian Azerbaijanis in his home town of Ardabil.

Sleazy Mullah lobbyists try to block opposition, unsuccessfully

NIAC has attempted to prevent Iranian-Americans from attending public conferences they have gotten members of Congress to sponsor in the past, perhaps fearful of a public demonstration against them.
Yesterday, they also attempted to bar entry to me as a reporter accredited with the U.S. Senate periodicals gallery to an event that was sponsored by Sen. Thomas Carper (D, DE).
