Dear President Obama

The Honorable Barak H. Obama                                                    September 29, 2010

The President of the United States of America

The White House Washington, D.C. 20500

Dear President Obama,

We at the Progressive American Iranian Committee (PAIC) on behalf of the Iranian-Americans and the relatives of all victims of the Islamic regime in Iran, gratefully appreciate your decision to impose sanctions on eight Iranian government officials tied to serious human rights abuses against the people of Iran.
Mr. President, after sham election in June 2009, the freedom loving people of Iran chanted “Mr. Obama, are you with them or with us”? Today they heard your message “The United States is strongly committed to the promotion of human rights around the world, including in the Islamic Republic of Iran”. We applaud your rightful decision.

President Obama, we at the Progressive American Iranian Committee (PAIC) work to draw attention to human rights crisis situation in Iran and believe in, the establishment of a democratic and secular system in our mother land, Iran. In our extensive communication with Iranian-Americans and Iranians inside Iran and elsewhere, they are very much appreciative of your commitment to human rights in Iran. We respectfully request that in any future negotiation between your administration and the Islamic regime, human rights of the people in Iran to be the priority issue on the agenda, although the reality has shown that in the past 30 years no attempt for negotiation had any result and only encouraged the Islamic rulers in Iran to take aggressive positions. History has proved the futility of such policies.

We believe the only way to halt the nuclear apparatus of the rulers of the Islamic Republic by all the international community would be to cut off ALL the economic and diplomatic relations with the rulers of the Islamic Republic and to stand  with the people of Iran as forces of  liberty. Your executive order today is the first step toward this route.

Once again we express our deepest gratitude for your commitment to human rights in Iran.

With best wishes,

Siavash Abghari, Ph.D, President
