Iran’s Proxy Militias in Iraq

An Iranian-American Forum documentary. Iran Quds Force operates nearly fifty proxy militias in Iraq. Some of them were created in the 1980s to fight Saddam regime. Some were created after 2003 to stage military attacks against US troops, participate in sectarian war or eliminate opposition to Iranian hegemony. After 2012, new militias were created and sent to Syria to assist the Assad regime. These proxies make Ghassem Soleimai the de facto military commander of Shiite regions in Iraq
